    Cracked Heat Exchanger

 

 
The above photo shows the heat exchanger inside a furnace.  One of the most common safety issure with a furnace is a cracked heat exchanger.  To an untrained eye this heat exchanger may look like it is in good condition.  Circled above you will see the cracks found by our technicians in our up close photos that were taken.  The bottom picture is severe crack that resulted in damage to the home.   These cracksare a potential safety risk which may include a fire hazard and/or carbon monoxide poisoning.  In addition, these cracks decrease the efficiency of the furnace resulting in an increase of engery costs.
